Spring hosting ideas - The Picnic

save this one, for when the weather decides to play ball. A picnic can be as lavish or as simple as you like. I prefer the simpler the better.

There is nothing I love more than an impromptu picnic. I spend far too much time either thinking about it, pining for it, or planning for it. Picnics are me, I am picnic. I think it stems from my love of all things Francais, and my need to shoe horn a baguette into nearly every situation (not an euphemism!). Ahem.

When it come to picnicking I take it very seriously. Dan once told me that picnics tick my boxes as they combine my two favourite things: 1) eating 2) lounging. He’s not wrong.

So, as I feel I’ve mastered the art of picnics, here are my top tips ahead of my favourite part of the year:

☀️ take inspiration from the French & keep it simple. A good quality baguette and fresh cheese is a winner.

☀️ keep the basics in the boot of the car. A blanket, a set of plates, knives and glasses in a box or wicker hamper, (this one above from John Lewis is great). So you are ready to grab some food and set up whenever the sun does shine.

☀️speaking of picnic blanket. Get one that has a waterproof backing, so you don’t get a wet bottom if the grass is a little damp. This one is from the @wearetbco and comes in a range of colours.
