Everything I'm using on my skin as a 54 year old

I'm quite minimal when it comes to skin care. But what I do use, is doing wonders.

This post has been a long time coming, and apologies for that. I shared on Instagram back in July, saying I was going to write this, and life has just gotten in the way.

I’m here now. So what am I using/doing that gives my skin the glow at 54. If you are interested in learning more, then read on:

The fundamentals

I have always moisturised my skin, starting from a very young age of 13. I was given Oil of Olay moisturiser and have been religious in giving my skin hydration ever since.

These days I’ve upgraded to more serum based products, ones which include Hylauronic Acid and Vitamin C for both hydration, plumping and brightening. I’ve listed all the products I’ve been using over here.

One trick I swear by, is using L’occitane Almond shower Oil in the shower. Once I’ve finished showering. as soon as the water is turned off, on sopping wet skin I apply a layer of Almond oil all over. I allow my body to drip whilst brushing my teeth. Then buff myself with a towel, by this point the oil has soaked in and my skin is left soft with a slight oily glow.

Going tech based

At 54, collagen is rapidly declining, it tends to start declining from around 35. The term ‘going south’ is real. Cheekbones used to sit high on my cheeks, and marionette lines and jowls were definitely non-existent. Until I hit my 50s. Now I’m doing everything I can to halt that southern migration.

I’ve recently invested in the Ziip Halo microcurrent facial device. It’s the same type of thing that a good facialist would use. Electric pulses zap through the skin (believe me it doesn’t hurt) each treatment targets exactly what your skin needs - so you can lift, tighten, brighten and more - all with one device.

It comes with an app to download, and has ‘treatments’ to follow along with e.g. Instant Face Lift, Jowls, Lymphatic Drainage.

Each treatment delivers precise currents that re-energise skin cells, helping to boost collagen, improve elasticity, or restore natural glow - for visible results that last.

I love to do mine whilst watching TV at night, a great way to wind down before bed. And my goodness I’ve seen the difference. A much tighter skin.

You can get 10% off a ZIIP Halo facial device - with the code: GREENSHED10
