Design Dupes | Rattan Pendant lamp
Adding an element of rustic chic to the home, rattan isn't going anywhere. Here are my picks to achieving that look on a budget.
I’m back with another instalment in the series ‘Design Dupes’. And it seems I have a thing for lighting at the moment. I promise it won’t always be on this subject, it’s just what is on my current radar.
So this week, it’s all about the rattan pendant. Rattan has a huge design element for years and it’s not going anywhere. So much so that brands are creating a entire range of rattan products, such is the thirst for it in our homes.
Gone are the pale bleached looking rattan or the whimsical seagrass shades, instead we are seeing more robust rattan in deep brown, with or without a scalloped edge (this isn’t going anywhere either).
Top of the pile is the Bardi from Lights and Lamps and at £369 for the shade and opal globe it’s a big investment. Similar in look and style is the Athena from Neptune Home £195. Which also has an opal globe to hide the light bulb. I personally prefer the Neptune one, as I love the aged brass fittings, but its smaller in size at 45cm diameter compared to 80cm of the Bardi.
If your budget doesn’t stretch to these prices (to be honest mine doesn’t either) then here is a little round-up of rattan shades to get that look.
